  • Lead Room/Nose Room
  • Think about how the eye will flow through the composition, don’t lead the viewer off the page
  • Be aware of what you are cropping off and where, also watch for limbs and trees growing out of peoples heads, etc.

Basic Controls:

  • Depth of field via aperture/fstop (small number short depth of field)
  • Stop/blur motion via shutter-speed – don’t try to handhold the camera at anything slower than 1/focal length

Printing substrates:

  • Photo Paper
  • Photo Canvas
  • Plain Paper
  • Fabric

Stretchers/Panels/Other

  • Canvas Stretchers
  • Board
  • Found Objects

Methods for combining/adhering

  • sewing
  • spray adhessive
  • gesso
  • varnish

Painting on Photos/Ink Jet output

  • Coat with UV spray
  • Acrylic thinned with medium or water
  • Ink
  • Oil Paint with Liquin/Linseed Oil/etc.
