Robert Holleman, noted ceramic and print artist, will be exhibiting his new neriage pottery (vessels thrown from different color clays with a clear glaze) and print work at Light and Glass Studio in Jackson from Aug. 19 thru Sept 17 . The exhibition of New Work by Robert Holleman will kick-off with an opening reception Thursday, Aug. 19 from 7-10 pm.
Holleman has worked as a potter for over twenty years. He apprenticed under Masanori Yamasaki, a Japanese master, in the 1980’s and although there is an Asian influence on Holleman’s work, he has carved out a very individual style all his own. Holleman mixes all his own clays and glazes at his studio in Ebenezer, Mississippi. The clay mixing for this body of work being some of the most demanding and critical in order to create clay with distinct colors which are also compatible with one another. Holleman’s print work also shows his “eye to the East” that can be seen in his ceramic work, but focuses on iconographic subject matter with a slant toward the whimsical.
Light and Glass Studio is located at 523 Commerce Street (near the corner of Commerce and South) in downtown Jackson, Mississippi. For more information please contact Roy Adkins at 601-942-7285 or radkins@lightandglass.net.
