I need to create a new egocentric-self-promotion category for this post . . .
In case you aren’t in Jackson to read the real thing, the Free Press posted the interview of me, by Rebekah Potter, on their website.
Below is the original version of the photo you see on their website:
Lately I have refocused some of my efforts into producing new work I can sell at the Belhaven Market, which starts this Saturday (9 till 1). I normally set out with distinctive subject matter in mind, but come away with something completely different. I went to Nanih Waiya to see if I could get any good photos of the mound (I didn’t), but I did get a good view from the top of the mound of the neighboring field and a nice swamp shot.
I also went to rocky springs to get some photos of a waterfall that is supposedly located there, but after being dissuaded by a gentleman hunting on federal property, I ended up with some shots of the old church and a nearby stream.
The rest are old, possibly abandoned homes, I find aesthetically pleasing.
If you are in town this weekend, come check out the market (Belhaven McDade’s parking lot); Jayrah has lots of new stuff too.
I find it easier to write about almost any aspect of my work other than portraits. I shot this tonight, and whether I was just a monkey with the camera at the right time or not, I think it captured some essential elements of their personalities.
Sadly, when I have very little free time the blog posts are what suffer. I have still been taking new photos, just not posting them. As an offering of appeasement to the gods of blogging I added a new portrait to the gallery today, along with a detail shot.
